In the last several years, women have also been a big part of the mountaineering arena. Sherpa women of walk of life has been involved in the trekking industry. One of experience was back in 2018, we planned and operated an all-women trek to co-guided by local Sherpa Women Guides for one of our women’s adventure travel partners. To undertake this planning, we particularly wanted local women guides from the Khumbu region, since this is their backyard. But the truth was, it wasn’t an easy task, we inquired locally about women guides in Khumbu, and interestingly most of the women actually are running and operating local lodges. So, it was a challenge for us, and we explored more into it.
