Why take this trip with us?

Gokyo has the Highest freshwater lake system in the world

Besides the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest being in the world. Nepal is also the location of the highest freshwater lake systems in the world. Located in the northernmost part of the country, at the base of the himalayas; this hightest freshwater lake system consists of six lakes each with their own name. These lakes of Gokyo have been a major attraction to foreign tourists and Nepelese people. In 2020, Nepal has also conducted the highest freshwater lake system ice skating and hockey friendly matches among various countries.

Sherpa people and sherpa culture and traditions

Every location has their own people, culture and tradition; Sherpas are the major inhabitants of this location. Sherpas have been residing in the foot of the Himalayas since long. Because of this Sherpas are very adept in this cold and high altitude location. Explore and get involved with the people of the Himalayas and experience their culture, tradition, and lifestyle.

Untouched Beauty of the Mountains, Rivers, and Lakes

Many of Nepal’s areas are yet in developing states or are underdeveloped. Many see this as a drawback, however, because of this the natural beauty of nature is preserved. During this trip you will be trekking through many of the places that are protected under the Sagarmatha National Park. You will be able to see the natural beauty of the clear lakes to the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas: Everest high pass, Everest, Amadablam, Gokyo Ri, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and many more... including the Gokyo Lakes.

What To Expect?

Note On Itinerary

Although we generally stick to the schedule date, the itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control, including weather and terrain conditions, lodging availability, and the group’s general timing.

Qualification

Everest High Passes Trek is a difficult and Strenuous trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 6-7 hours a day with a light rucksack. In some days we might even need to walk 8 to 9 hours. Walking in higher altitude is more physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes; however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness, positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, we can accomplish the trek successfully. Past hiking experience is preferred but no technical skill is required. It is important that you consult with your doctor before booking this trek.

Air Travel

Please check with your travel agent for a better route to fly into the arriving destination. We advise you to check with us before purchasing your airline tickets to ensure your trip has the necessary minimum number of participants required to operate.

Weather

March thur May (Spring) & Oct thru Dec (Fall) are the perfect times when the weather is favorable to see the peaks.  The date that we have published is the best possible one.

Distance of the Trek

The route is 74 miles or 120 kilometres. This means that you will be trekking for an average of 6 hours per day on the 10 day itinerary.

Lukla Flight Note

Please note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We will do our best to avoid such delays, and arrange the next flight for you. We also organize Helicopter rescue in such conditions, if it is available and upon request by our clients.

The helicopter charges around USD 3500 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellations, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. If everything runs smoothly and you still have a few days of your buffer days left then you may even engage yourself in optional activities which can be arranged by Last Frontiers upon request. The optional activities may include visiting places/landmarks of your choice, adventure sports, shopping, etc.

In case the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip such as a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other region. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for your original preferred trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla.

However, please note that there will be no refund, if you lose time waiting at the airport and do not take an alternative tour or you only do a short trek later due to time limitation. If the cancellation happens before the trip, we will provide you accommodation and lunch in a guesthouse in Kathmandu. In case of the flight delay/cancellation after finishing of the trek, you will be responsible for all your expenses. Please also note that you will not be entitled to any refund for the services (such as hotel, transport, flight, etc.) included in the package that you would not use later.
